Akita

The Akita originates from Japan, where the breed was apparently developed by a Samurai. This breed has over three hundred years of history, having been developed around the mid 1600s. The breed is now known as a national monument and a national treasure in Japan. The Akita was registered with the American Kennel Club in 1972.

Dog Breeds

There are over 800 being recognized by various kennel clubs worldwide. As all dog breeds have been derived from mixed-breed dog populations, the term "purebred" has meaning only with respect to a certain number of generations. Let's examine the Beagle, Great Dane, Jack Russell Terrier (Parson Russell Terrier), and Maltese.
